As fantastic as the Berkman Center’s hosting has been, I can’t handle the userland software anymore. The UI doesn’t cut it, and the server is too slow for me to really explore it fully. I looked into WordPress, but it’s not compatible with PostgreSQL, which is, for many reasons, my preferred DB platform.
So I’m using Typo, the blog software based on Ruby-on-Rails. I’m quite impressed with RoR so far, with a few caveats. At some point, I’ll try to distill my 11 years of web dev experience and how RoR fits into the landscape of web dev. Quick initial summary: RoR is quite good.
The old blog posts will still live at the Berkman Center URL, but new posts will be at Benlog from now on, and basically forever.
